Resources

Soul Stirring Productions gives venues to spiritual artists for the presentation of original works of mystical art, story, song, and word. We hope to inspire and encourage you to express your own soul in the natural and unique channels of your creativity as well, so we invite everyone to explore the resources for artists on these pages. We'll tend to list specific local links first, followed by the general and international.

The Cambridge
Swedenborg Chapel
help save it!
Allied Organizations • Be Proud New England!
Cambridge Swedenborg Chapel: our generous hosts; a beautiful landmark Gothic church and home to the big-hearted and open-minded Swedenborgian Christians. Did you know that Johnny Appleseed was a Swedenborgian, and his famous seed sowing travels were an early example of great American spiritual performance art? Johnny "Appleseed" Chapman, born in Leominster Massachusetts, was a big fan of the 18th century philosopher/scientist and his brand of Christian mystical symbolism, so he trekked the country giving out apple seeds wrapped in pages from Emanuel Swedenborg's writings - no joke! Swedenborg, called a "Buddha of the North" by D.T.Suzuki, also profoundly influenced William Blake, the New England Transcendentalists (Emerson called him one of the 50 greatest thinkers), William James, Helen Keller, and Carl Jung. • You can visit a Swedenborgian service at 11am any Sunday, and the Cambridge Swedenborgians also share their worship space with local Tibetans and Anglicans. Help save the Chapel!

Greater Boston Church of Spiritualism: the home of several dear friends. Did you know that modern Spiritualism started in New York and New England in the mid 1800's, and was primarily shepherded by a man named Andrew Jackson Davis, a.k.a the Seer of Poughkeepsie? Davis claimed Swedenborg was one of his spirit teachers, and Davis eventually settled as general practitioner doctor and inspired spiritual writer in Boston. His tomb in Mt. Auburn cemetary is visited by Spiritualists from the world over.
